The first trailer for the prequel to Mad Max has finally dropped, and many viewers have been saying the same thing.
The film has been hotly anticipated, with the previous instalment Mad Max: Fury Road receiving high praise.
Starring Tom Hardy, Charlize Theron, and Nicholas Hoult, Fury Road drew widespread acclaim for its acting performances, feminist themes, and incredible practical effects.

Who can forget the iconic Doof Warrior, aka Flaming Guitar Guy?
In fact, director George Miller insisted that the entire prop, including the guitar flamethrower, actually functioned.
Props for the props.
The latest instalment, called Furiosa: A Mad Max Story, will take a deeper look at Theron's character, the immeasurably bada** Imperator Furiosa.

Anya Taylor-Joy, of Queen's Gambit and The Menu, will take on the role of Furiosa, being joined by Chris Hemsworth.
With the brilliance of Fury Road still in audience's minds, it's fair to say that the new instalment has one hell of an act to follow.
Now, the first trailer for the movie has dropped, and it seems that fans have all been saying the same thing.

Sadly, it doesn't look like good news.
As we've already mentioned, Fury Road was praised for its brilliant use of practical effects to show the nail-biting battles between our plucky band of heroes and the villainous patriarch Immortan Joe.
And sadly it seems as though many of these have been replaced by CGI effects.
While these are impressive in their own way, even the best CGI will just never be as real as a practical effect.

Take one look at the Orcs from Lord of the Rings and those from The Hobbit for reference.
People have taken to the social media to talk about the apparent overwhelming reliance on CGI.
One person wrote: "I'm sorry but this looks like a video game ngl."

Someone else added: "Wow, looks expensive, said no one. We will wait for streaming, maybe."
A third wrote: "The CGI looks quite obvious this time."
Another was more hopeful, saying: "I do hope we can maintain what made Fury Road great. Good use of practical effects and less reliance on CGI, it really made it a memorable experience."
The trailer does give the impression that everything from explosions to the cars and motorbikes themselves, and even the desert background, has been digitally rendered.
Nonetheless, George Miller is returning as director, alongside co-writers from Fury Road.
Time will tell if the latest instalment lives up to its predecessor!
