Many I’m a Celeb viewers are thoroughly ticked off with Nick Knowles, after he made a comment some have viewed as sexist.
The drama began during a heated altercation over the rice John Barrowman was preparing for lunch. The Torchwood actor wanted to cook four portions, but Rita Simons was adamant this wouldn’t be enough to fill the bellies of 11 hungry campmates.
Tension was evident as the pair clashed over the portions, with John arguing they needed to save some rice for the evening meal.
Former EastEnders actor Rita encouraged other campmates to raise their hands if they wanted more rice, describing the four portions as ‘ridiculous’. It was clear other celebs were in agreement and John reluctantly proceeded to cook more rice.
Speaking later in the privacy of the Bush Telegraph, John opened up about the prickly altercation, sighing:
All of a sudden, people wanted more rice. Which is fine but it was the way that it was approached. It was almost like it was the blame of the cooks who were doing it.
I’ve said this from day one, food causes arguments.
However, DIY SOS presenter Nick had other ideas about why there were tensions in the jungle, and plenty of viewers have taken issue with his reasoning.
Taking John aside for a chat, Nick cautioned:
Remember the girls are going to be a bit jumpier because of what time of the month they told us it is. We’re going to have that for a couple of days with the girls.

Nick Knowles blaming Rita having the audacity to speak up for herself on her period. Tut tut.#imacelebrity

Who the fuck does Nick Knowles think he is invalidating Rita’s point just because she’s on her period! On or off your period a woman’s thoughts and opinions are just as valid #imacelebrity

Plenty of I’m a Celeb viewers were left fuming after these remarks, accusing Nick of discrediting Rita’s opinions on the rice situation by attributing her words and actions to the period blues.
One irritated fan deadpanned:
Yes Nick Knowles…. It’s not that they’re tired and hungry like you men, the ladies must be “tetchy” because they are having periods?! #pinitontheperiod #imaceleb [sic]
Men: When a woman speaks out about something she is unhappy about, do NOT brush it off or dismiss it as ‘time of the month’ – having a period does not invalidate our argument or feelings. Nick Knowles take heed. #imaceleb [sic]
Erm first time Nick Knowles has annoyed me… you can’t use our periods against us !! Only we can blame our moods on them, not u hun x

Wish all these people would shut up complaining about Nick Knowles blaming the girls stroppiness on their periods. They said it themselves. And it's true – I'm a right bitch when the decorators are in! #ImACeleb
