Forget Miami, the ridiculously well-groomed, obedient Cocker Spaniel named ‘Best in Show’, Olly the Jack Russell was the real winner at Crufts.
Olly took to the arena in Birmingham last night to show off his skills in the obstacle course, but it became clear within just a few seconds that the terrier hadn’t benefited from the kind of training the other dogs had.
Going off the script in the agility course, Olly lacked the organisation and control needed to complete the task successfully – and everyone loved it.
He seemed to have mastered the pipe tunnel, but when it came to hurdles and the weaving poles, Olly had a tendency to massively miscalculate his footing.
Jumping one of the obstacle’s many hurdles, Olly managed to complete a perfect faceplant slide across the course.
Sure, it wasn’t planned. But as far as faceplants go, this one was a 10/10.
And he didn’t let it deter him. After sliding a good metre or so on his head, Olly got straight up and started running around the rest of the course, jumping through whatever he fancied and taking a break to sniff the perimeter border every once in a while.
Olly may not have been Crufts material in retrospect, but he certainly was the most entertaining part of the show.
And along with the viewers, the commentator definitely got a kick out of it.
“He’s all over the place and so he should be. He’s going the wrong way, but it doesn’t really matter, does it? That’s one of the best shots I’ve seen in a long time,” he laughed.
Sure, Miami may have the looks, but Olly and his absolutely nuts personality is the real winner here.
