Paul Rudd Explains Why Ant-Man Couldn’t Take Out Thanos Via This NSFW Route

Many fans offered suggestions for how the Marvel hero could defeat Thanos

Many fans speculated about how the Avengers could defeat Thanos as the Infinity Saga played out, but Paul Rudd shut down one particularly NSFW suggestion while in character as Ant-Man.

As a superhero who can shrink both himself and other objects down to the size of an insect, Ant-Man has a lot of useful qualities. He's used his abilities to hitch a ride on other insects, infiltrate various pieces of technology and avoid punches, but we've never seen him infiltrate another person. At least, not in the way some people are suggesting.

After Thanos' evil plot to get all the infinity stones came to light, fans began to suggest that Ant-Man should use his powers to shrink down and invade Thanos' body. More specifically, they suggested he use Thanos' a**ehole as an entry point through which to kill him.

Hear Rudd's response to that suggestion below:

The actor appeared in character as Scott Lang in Avengers: Quantum Encounter on the Disney Cruise Line, where he was displayed alongside Evangeline Lilly, who plays the Wasp in the Marvel films.

After introducing himself as Ant-Man, the superhero said he wanted to 'address the elephant in the room' in relation to the 'chatter' about why he didn't 'shrink down, go in and kill Thanos in a really creative way'.

"First of all, gross," the character continued, before explaining the theory wouldn't work because 'it's much more complicated than that'.

Lang was set to expand on the matter, but he was quickly stopped from discussing all the, well, ins and out by the Wasp, who jumped in to explain they just didn't have the time.

The theory has been shared far and wide online, with one fan calling on directors Joe and Anthony Russo to put the idea to use as they wrote: "Ant-Man still has a chance to shrink down into Thanos's butt and then go giant. Your move Russo brothers."

It's not the first time Rudd has discussed the popular theory, having previously had to explain fans' idea to his co-star Scarlett Johansson during an interview with Capital FM.

After Johansson pointed out that an ear or a nostril would probably be a more accessible entry point, Rudd explained fans had suggested he could hit 'the other button on [his] wrist' after crawling inside Thanos, meaning he would grow to a size much bigger than the hole is designed for.

Evidently the directors chose not to go in that direction, but I'm sure that won't stop people pitching it.
