Horror fans, assemble. The new Predator movie, Prey, has been given an R-rating due to its strong, bloody violence.
The upcoming movie, which is set 300 years before the first Predator film, is set to be released in August in the UK. But you'll certainly need to be brave to watch it, after a listing on filmratings.com has revealed the movie will be rated R (the rough equivalent of a 15 rating in the UK).
The description explains the film is 'rated R for strong bloody violence'.

Prey tells the story of a young woman named Naru (played by Amber Midthunder) who is a highly skilled and ruthless warrior.
When danger threatens the camp, Naru makes it her mission to protect her people, hunting down the predators which leads to a 'vicious showdown'.

The official synopsis explains: “Set in the Comanche Nation 300 years ago during 1719, the film follows Naru, a fierce and highly skilled warrior, who has been raised in the shadow of some of the most legendary hunters who roam the Great Plains.
“So when danger threatens her camp, she sets out to protect her people. The Prey she stalks, and ultimately confronts, turns out to be a highly evolved alien with a technologically advanced arsenal, resulting in a vicious and terrifying showdown between the two adversaries.”
Directed by 10 Cloverfield Lane mastermind Dan Trachtenberg, the movie also stars newcomer Dakota Beavers, Stormee Kipp, Michelle Thrush and Julian Black Antelope.

The movie will also be the first to ever be dubbed in Comanche. Producer of Prey, Jhane Myers, who is herself Comanche, spoke about why that was so crucial.
She explained to /Film: "That’s really important to me being Comanche and working with our Comanche language department, also with working with Comanche language speakers.
"But just the fact that people will have a choice, the world will have a choice to listen to the whole film in Comanche is amazing.

"That’s never been done for my tribe, ever. There’s only a couple of movies. I think Star Wars, which was 30 years old when they transcribed it into Navajo, and then there was Navajo again for Finding Nemo, which was 20 years old when they did that."
Prey is set to be released on 5 August 2022 on Hulu in the US, and on Disney+ on the same date for viewers in the UK.
