Daytime television is a minefield of blunders and innuendo; and there’s no show quite like Countdown to scramble letters into mischievous wordplay.

Rachel Riley has become adept at responding to the various crude offering of the English language, but her poker face was put to the test in a recent episode.

You can watch the funny segment below:

When one contestant, selected the word ‘squirt’, guest judge, Countryfile‘s Adam Henson, pointed out that ‘squirter’ was also available.

Rachel later shared the moment on social media, as she shared a screen grab of her trying to keep a straight face with ‘squirter’ spelled out behind her.

She captioned it, ‘Nothing to see here #waterpistols.’

So, apparently the biological urban legend that has graced the scripts of many an American Pie movie is not so elusive after all, according to daytime TV.

It’s just waterpistols at dawn.

Countdown continues today at 2.10pm on Channel 4.
