Robert Pattinson Forced To Change ‘Absolutely Atrocious’ Batman Voice

Robert Pattinson has revealed he was made to change his approach to Batman's voice.

Robert Pattinson has revealed that he was made to change his approach to Batman's voice.

The 35-year-old has taken on one of the most famous superhero roles in a film which is anticipated as being a dynamic, fresh and intense reboot, capturing Bruce Wayne in his second year of fighting crime.

On Wednesday, February 16, Pattinson appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! where he explained what really went down when he first took on the role of Bruce Wayne and how he approached Batman's voice in a very specific way only to be told 'to stop doing it' after just 'two weeks'.

While Matt Reeves reportedly wrote the script with Pattinson in mind for the lead role, the director and writer probably didn't quite expect the actor to take such a 'radically different' approach to the voice of Wayne, The Independent reports.

Pattinson explained: 'Everyone does this kind of gruff, gravelly thing, and I’m like, ‘I’m going to do the opposite – I’m gonna go really whispery'.

'And I tried to do it for the first two weeks, and it just looked absolutely atrocious, and they told me to stop doing it.'

However, Pattinson also revealed he's not been the first Batman to try and break free from the low-pitched mould.

In Batman Begins, he noted how Christian Bale also tried to give Wayne's voice a revamp.

'If you listen to the first Batman Begins teaser trailer, you can hear the original voice. I only found this out a couple of weeks ago,' he explained.

The actor has been known to not always be completely honest in interviews, from pretending to not wash his hair to chewing gum brand Extra, to telling GQ that he didn't work out for the role of Batman, despite later admitting that 'you have to work out' for the role, and that he'd just been embarrassed to talk about it.

And, while Pattinson's voice may not have hit the right notes when he first began working on the role, it's his voice fans have been left obsessing over since the trailer's release.

The Batman is set to hit cinemas on March 4.
