Netflix have established themselves as major players in the film-making industry in recent years, proving they are far more than just purveyors of binge-able content.
From likeable rom-coms such as Always Be My Maybe to universally acclaimed dramas like Roma, Netflix has proven the words ‘made for TV movie’ are not necessarily synonymous with poor quality entertainment.
The famously chilled streaming service has now turned things up a notch, bringing viewers a heist thriller starring the three major talents of Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Gal Gadot and Ryan Reynolds. It’s difficult to think of a more well-suited Hollywood trio…

Johnson and Gadot were both confirmed as stars in the Netflix heist last year, with Reynolds’ involvement now confirmed, via one of the streaming service’s official Twitter accounts.
According to this tweet, Red Notice will be ‘an action-adventure film revolving around the pursuit of the world’s most wanted art thief’.
Written and directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber (Skyscraper), Red Notice will bring both action and comedy, genres all three actors have long shown great prowess for.

As reported by Deadline, Johnson has made the following comments:
With Red Notice, our goal at Seven Bucks Productions was to break down traditional barriers and create a true global event for the audience. Netflix has illustrated that they are the perfect partners to accomplish this goal.
I admire the ambition of Netflix to become one of the biggest movie studios in the world. Their original content generates critical acclaim and invites full collaboration on every level of production.
Their unbridled enthusiasm for Red Notice is equally matched by their commitment to entertaining audiences on an international scale.
This could not be any better. The Rock, Wonder woman and Deadpool all in the same movie. Hells yes!

As runner up in a heated bidding war, Netflix took ownership of Red Notice after it was dropped by first place bidders Universal Pictures.
The Rock continued:
As the landscape of movies, distribution and audience consumption continues to evolve, our Seven Bucks focus is to continue to find the best platform and partners to thrive in this ever changing environment.
Director/writer Rawson Thurber has delivered a dynamic script that me and my co-stars and partners-in-heist, Gal Gadot and Ryan Reynolds, can’t wait to shoot.
The fun we’re gonna have making Red Notice, but more importantly — the fun the worldwide audience will have watching it in 190+ countries — all at the same moment.

As of yet, not much is known about the characters played by Reynolds and Johnson. However, it is understood Gadot will portray a mysterious art world figure.
Following the confirmation of Reynolds’ involvement, Gadot tweeted about her personal excitement at the prospect of working alongside her new co-stars:
So excited about this project! This is gonna be so much fun & I can’t wait to share this one with you. Let’s do this boys!

Via Instagram, Johnson has revealed shooting of the Netflix heist will begin in January 2020, hailing the star studded film as a ‘global event movie’.
As reported by Deadline, Red Notice could potentially be Netflix’s biggest star-package feature film to date, with the production budget lying somewhere within the $130 million range.
Red Notice is due for release on Netflix as of November 13, 2020.
