The Simpsons Branded ‘The Blueprint For Reality’ After Predicting Tom Hanks Presidency Advert
Whenever something big happens the chances are The Simpsons predicted it years ago.
Tom Hanks recently narrated a video for the Biden Inaugural Committee recounting the achievements of President Biden’s first year in office, and people were reminded of the actor’s cameo in The Simpsons Movie, where he stars in an advert for the new Grand Canyon which will be created when Springfield is destroyed.
Hanks’ cameo contains the iconic line, ‘The US government has lost its credibility, so it’s borrowing some of mine,’ and people couldn’t help but be reminded of it when watching the Biden video.
In it, Hanks narrated some of the achievements of the Biden administration’s first year in power, saying: ‘We may be entering year three of a pandemic none of us wanted or expected, but we are moving.
‘We’re going back to work, millions of people and families are finding their way back to making a living. More jobs were created in 2021 than in any year in the last 80 years.
‘We are strong. We are courageous. We are resilient. We are America, land of the brave’.
Per Deadline, the video comes at a time of falling approval ratings for Biden as he faces a crucial year of midterms which could determine his ability to pass bills through Congress.
Only Trump, who dropped to 35% approval after his first year in office, has had lower ratings than Biden as the current administration struggles to deal with new waves of the coronavirus and rising inflation while several of the president’s bills have struggled to get the numbers to pass.
