The Sinner Season 2 Plot And Cast Details Released
It was no surprise to any discerning crime drama buff when The Sinner was renewed for a second season.
However, where the series would take us next was always a huge question mark. After all, the fantastic Jessica Biel’s storyline had wrapped up fairly conclusively.
An equally compelling lead would be needed to fill Biel’s blood-soaked shoes, which would be no easy feat – Biel received critical acclaim for her portrayal of troubled Cora Tannetti, even earning a Golden Globe nomination.
Now, we have our new leading lady, and it looks like this could well be yet another phenomenal casting choice.
According to Variety, Carrie Coon (Fargo, The Leftovers) will be starring in this hotly awaited second season, playing a character by the name of Vera.
Vera sounds like a much different sort of character to traumatised Cora. However, it’s a safe bet she’ll be just as complicated and intriguing.
Vera’s been described in the following way:
A formidable, mysterious woman who struggles between upholding the ideals of the community she leads and fulfilling her own desires.
Joining Coon will be Natalie Paul (The Deuce) and Hannah Gross (Mindhunter). Paul will play trainee detective Heather, while Gross will play Heather’s close friend from her high school years.
Netflix addicts already appear excited by this inspired casting decision.
One approving individual tweeted:
One of the best actresses out right now! How she didn’t get every nomination possible for her performance in The Leftovers I’ll never understand.
Carrie Coon joins The Sinner for season 2 which means now I’ll be watching The Sinner.
You can check out Coon’s acting skills before the season launch, in the role of Proxima Midnight in Avengers: Infinity War.
Fans will no doubt be delighted to know Bill Pullman will be investigating another grisly crime as Detective Harry Ambrose.
This time around, Ambrose will be looking at the apparently motiveless murder of two parents by their 11-year-old son. The action will take place in the kinky detective’s upstate New York hometown.
This chilling scenario could well have the potential to be even darker than the original season…
Biel, who will be returning as executive producer, spoke with Entertainment Weekly in December 2017 about the upcoming series:
Initially, the show was genuinely conceived as a limited series so it was a surprise to us as well that, with the amazing viewership and the incredible journey that this show has taken, it was even a possibility to come back.
We’re starting fresh again, I will definitely be involved in some way!
I hope somebody writes me into the show, if we can figure it out. We will figure it out if it’s possible, but we want to be authentic to the show.
The Sinner will return to confuse and perplex you in August 2018. Maybe keep yourself a weekend free…
