Fans have been waiting patiently for the release of Thor: Love and Thunder, and while many Marvel films run to epic lengths, it seems the runtime for the latest outing is a little shorter than expected.
One of the most highly anticipated films of the year is set for release on 8 July and we couldn't be more excited.
Naturally, questions have cropped up as we wait for the film to drop, like: will our beloved trickster god Loki make an appearance? Just how hench is Natalie Portman's Mighty Thor? And will it be another three-hour epic like so many Marvel films?
Well, we can answer one of those questions for certain, and we're really sorry it's not the one about Loki.

It's that the film will be Marvel's shortest movie in years.
Yep, according to film listings from AMC and Cineworld, the new Thor film comes in at one hour and 59 minutes.
For context Avengers: Endgame was three hours and one minute.
Still, the runtime has nothing to do with the quality of the film, and we're sure Thor won't let us down.

However, fans of Twitter were a little more sceptical, with one simply stating: "Needs to be 59 hours, this is too minimal."
While another added: "On a knee-jerk reaction this feels like it’s gonna be too short. Like it didn’t need to be 3 hours but 2 h 15-2:30 always feels like enough."
A third chimed in: "Reminds me of the 2000s when most of Fox's Marvel films (X-Men, Fantastic Four) were around 1hr45mins long. Back in 2006, X-Men fans were hoping The Last Stand was over 2hrs long. But it was 1hr45mins, with an 1/2 hr of scenes cut from the film."

One user even said they felt 'lied to', re-sharing an Instagram post from Chris Hemsworth that said the film would be 'a full two hours' when the film clocks in at just a minute under.
One even made a pretty decent case for the optimal movie runtime: "Ok, can we all agree that the best runtime for any movie is around 2hrs and 15 mins? Not too long, not too short, and enough for some s**t to actually be in the movie."
Others seemed to welcome the news, saying: "Finally a movie with (hopefully) a proper runtime, everything these days seems to be padded for no reason."

Whatever your thoughts on the runtime, personally, we'll still be queuing up on opening night for one hour and 59 minutes of Thor goodness.
