Fans Believe Thor: Love And Thunder Is Going To Reveal Thor's Sexuality

A fan theory about Thor’s sexuality is doing the social media rounds thanks to a split-second shot in the action-packed teaser trailer

Fans were treated to their first glimpse of Thor: Love and Thunder on Monday when a teaser trailer for the Taika Waititi-directed blockbuster whipped the internet into a frenzy.

Before long, a fan theory about Thor’s sexuality was doing the social media rounds thanks to a split-second shot in the action-packed preview.

The moment left fans convinced that Chris Hemsworth’s God of Thunder is gay, and it’s hard not to stan.

The moment unfolds towards the trailer's end, when Chris Pratt’s character Star-Lord can be heard telling Thor: “Remember what I told you, if you ever feel lost, look into the eyes of the people that you love.”

Thor is then seen giving Star-Lord, aka Peter Quill, a lingering look before Quill tells him: “Not me.” A slightly awkward Thor insists in response: “I was just listening.”

Whether the moment is actually an indication of Thor’s sexuality or just an example of Waititi’s offbeat humour, the internet didn’t care and quickly blew up with theories that the ripped Asgardian is ‘gay as hell’.

One Twitter user screamed: “Thor is gay! We won!” while another echoed: “Oh Thor, you gay as hell.”

A third person tweeted: “The words in the title are literally the colours of the gay flag. Gay Thor is so real.”

“Anyone saying Thor isn’t gay is in homophobic denial,” joked another social media user, with a fifth adding: “Taika Waititi gets hold of the pen and suddenly Thor’s gay now. Incredible”

But by far the best of lot has to be: “The new Thor: Love and Thunder teaser was really good but I was really not expecting the five second clip of Thor and Star-Lord having passionate gay sex.”

Love and Thunder is a sequel to Thor: Ragnarok and will adapt elements from Jason Aaron's Mighty Thor comic book era.

Waititi said in a recent interview that Love and Thunder makes Ragnarok seem like ‘a really run of the mill, very safe film'.

Elsewhere, Love and Thunder will see Natalie Portman join the franchise again for the first time since 2013’s Thor: The Dark World and her return to Asgard is set to kick butt.

Monday’s teaser gave fans their first peek at Portman as the Mighty Thor, and anyone who didn’t feel warm and fuzzy inside when she popped up wielding the God of Thunder’s hammer is, quite frankly, lying.

Thor: Love and Thunder will hit cinemas in the UK and US on 8 July 2022.
