Baby Driver crashed into our cinema screens earlier this year quickly stealing the hearts of film fans everywhere.
The fast-paced action-packed drama, directed by Edgar Wright, is undoubtedly the smoothest, funkiest and most fabulous film we’ve seen this year.
An entertaining thrill ride from start to finish, people were immediately calling for a sequel as soon as the film ended, and now it has been given the green light.
If you want a reminder of just how good Baby Driver was, you can watch the trailer here:

Something of a dream project for writer and director Wright, it’s no wonder he’s been eyeing up a sequel considering he conceived the idea for the film back in the mid-1990s.
And luckily for Wright, Baby Driver not only smashed the box office to pieces but it was a success with critics, meaning a sequel was always going to be on the cards.
Having not officially singed onto a next project, it is almost as if Wright was waiting to see what happened with his passion project before he dedicated himself to another film.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Wright spoke about what is happening for the sequel we are already highly anticipating.
Those talks are already in the works. The deal is being hammered out as we speak.
So, hopefully, I’m going to at least write a second one. I’ve definitely got lots of ideas.
Whether it’s the next movie, I don’t know. I’m just working that out at the moment, actually.
I have a couple of things that I’ve been developing, and also a couple of new ideas that I had, and all the nice things that I’ve been offered since [the r[the release of Baby Driver]
I would like to get back on the saddle very shortly, because — slightly beyond my control — but there was four years between The World’s End and Baby Driver. I don’t want it to be that long again.
I would love to have a film out in the next two years.
From what Wright is saying, it looks like Baby Driver’s future may even involve more than just one sequel, which is certainly an exciting thought.
This isn’t the first time we have heard rumblings about a sequel though.
Only a few weeks after the film was released, Wright appeared on the Empire spoiler special podcast where he revealed that the studio had already asked him about the possibility of writing a follow up.
The studio have asked me to think about writing a sequel and it is one of the ones that I might do a sequel to because I think there’s somewhere more to go with it in terms of the characters. Baby has got to a new place.
Most sequels you have to contrive something so they go back to square one, unless there’s somewhere deeper for them to go.
I think with Baby Driver there’s more that you can do in that realm, and I sort of have an idea that if you did another [film][film]ould subvert his involvement in the crime in a different way so he’s not the apprentice anymore.
We’re sure Baby will be back on our screens in no time.
