Stan Lee has been laid to rest during a small, private ceremony, in keeping with his final wishes.

According to a statement made by POW! Entertainment, Stan had not wanted the sort of large, public funeral one would normally associate with such a well-known individual.

According to POW! Entertainment’s official statement:

As we all continue to process our feelings of loss at the passing of a true legend, many are asking if there will be a memorial in Stan’s honor,

Stan was always adamant that he did not want a large public funeral, and as such his family has conducted a private closed ceremony in accordance with his final wishes.

Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with them.

POW! Entertainment has now created a memorial wall on Stan’s official website, where those who loved Stan and his work can show their respect and appreciation.

The wall has quickly filled with fan art, memories and emotional responses to the loss of the legend; with dedications from fans and friends alike. It is anticipated his memory will be honoured further in due course.

POW! Entertainment have said:

We at Stan Lee’s POW! Entertainment are working on putting together a tribute befitting the greatest creator of our time and the father of modern pop culture.

The grandeur of Stan makes this a monumental task, and we hope to have more info in the days to come.

In the meantime, we understand and share your desire to commune with fellow fans, and we have set up a tribute wall on therealstanlee.com where we can all share our thoughts, prayers and messages of support.

Additionally, over the next several days we will be sharing messages from fellow creators, artists and colleagues of Stan’s across his Twitter, Facebook and Instagram accounts.

We look forward to joining all of Stan’s fans in celebrating his extraordinary life and legacy.

Stan died aged 95 on Monday November 12, 2018. Hailed by POW! Entertainment as ‘the father of modern culture’, he was the co-creator behind some of the most iconic superheroes, including Spider-Man, Iron Man, The Hulk, Black Panther and Daredevil.

Up until the great age of 95, Stan remained an active member of the Marvel family; still referred to with affection as the King of Cameos.

Stan played every sort of character, from a World War II veteran to a postman, an astronaut to a grumpy neighbour. Although brief, his wisecracking cameos often got the biggest laughs of the movie.

Stan took a cameo part in each and every Marvel Cinematic Universe film to date. These were an eagerly anticipated part of the viewing experience, even sparking fan theories, including one that he plays Uatu the Watcher which was kind of confirmed by Kevin Feige last year.

Stan is survived by his daughter Joan Celia.

Our thoughts are with the family of Stan Lee at this difficult time.
