There’s a really dark reason Elijah Wood’s career stalled after The Lord Of The Rings marathon trilogy.
Since his starring role as Frodo, Wood has gone into relative obscurity and considering he was the lead role in one of the biggest franchises in cinematic history, it wasn’t really expected.
Considering all the news which has come to light over the past few months from Hollywood, it makes sense.
Wood apparently got on the wrong side of Hollywood executives when he spoke out to the media, telling them the film industry was full of sexual predators who targeted child actors – and coming from one of the most accomplished child actors, it was a big statement to make.
Despite saying he’d never experienced this sort of abuse first-hand, Wood said:
If you’re innocent – you have very little knowledge of the world and you want to succeed – people with parasitic interests will see you as their prey.
He went as far as comparing the crimes in Hollywood to those of reviled television personality, Jimmy Saville.
Looper posted the following video:
Since his comments, The New York Times broke the story of allegations of sexual abuse by Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein, resulting in men and women within the industry stepping forward to share their encounters.
Weinstein was fired over allegations of sexual abuse, dating back throughout his career, which could land him five to 25 years in prison on sexual assault charges, if tried in criminal court.
A number of men and women in and out of the public eye have also come forward to share their stories of alleged sexual abuse, including a number of high-profile celebrities.
Following Wood’s accusations, he’s been in films such as Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind and Sin City, also taking on a lot of voiceover work in family-friendly films, such as Happy Feet and three consecutive The Legend Of Spyro games.
Wood has taken up a few extra-curricular activities as well – he’s progressing with his DJ career and even starting his own label, called Simian Records.
So while he hasn’t vanished from our sight entirely, (like Frodo), Elijah Wood certainly hasn’t continued his reign of stratospheric silver screen superstardom.

Thousands of women and men from around the world have been tweeting the hashtag #MeToo to demonstrate the magnitude of sexual harassment.
#MeToo, has been used hundreds of thousands of times by brave men and women who’ve been sharing their stories and stressing the importance of addressing sexual violence.
The term gained momentum after actress Alyssa Milano encouraged those who’ve experienced sexual violence to come forward on social media and stand together.
If all the women who have been sexually harassed or assaulted wrote ‘Me Too’ as a status, we might give people a sense of the problem.
