Back in 1984 a brave little boy did battle with evil forces in The NeverEnding Story but whatever happened to the classic movie’s cast?
For those who don’t remember The NeverEnding Story, the movie tells the story of Bastian a young boy who ‘borrows’ a book from a bookstore while avoiding bullies.
This being a fantasy film the book ends up being magical soon Bastian becomes embroiled in the story of Atreyu and his battle to stop a dark storm called the Nothing from engulfing a fantasy world.
Despite the film’s cast being principally made up of child actors (never ends well) the great movie minds over at Looper have revealed that the cast went on to do very well for themselves.
True they’re not all on camera anymore but they’re happy and healthy which is the main thing isn’t it. Take lead actor Barret Oliver who played the bibliophile Bastian Balthazar Bux in the movie.
Barret had an impressive on screen career back in the eighties appearing not only in The NeverEnding Story but also Tim Burton’s Frankenweenie short and Ron Howard’s Cocoon.
Eventually however Barret decided that he was tired of acting and found success as a printer and photographer, specialising in nineteenth century processes such as Woodburytype.
In fact Barret became such an authority that he literally wrote the book on the technique, and he’s not alone in his success, but to find out more you’ll have to watch the video.
Trust us it’s not never ending and well worth a watch…
