Stay away from my kids or I will beat the sh*t out of you. Capische?

Not my words, of course, but those of world renown British thespian Tom Hardy who in a recent interview expressed exactly how he feels about the glare of photographers hoping to capture a sneaky picture of his children.

The 40-year-old has a son Louis, 10, from a previous relationship while his wife Charlotte Riley revealed last month she was pregnant with the couple’s second child.

It seems Hardy has decided to make it perfectly clear that if you interfere with his personal life, you’re gonna get what’s coming to you.

He’s done a remarkably good job of keeping his lad under wraps judging by the level of his celebrity. Other than a video of him puppeteering Louis as a newborn while rapping on the street, we haven’t seen much of the young lad at all. Nor the two-year-old he shares with Riley.

Back in 2012, a reporter called him a ‘Skype father’ only to be interrupted by the passive-aggressive wrath of Hardy.

‘What you on about man?’ Hardy laughed. ‘Thanks for your questions, they’re awesome. You need to work on those buddy. Bad questions.’

Six years later, he’s a bit more aggressive on the topic, telling Esquire:

If someone takes a photo of my kids, all bets are off. I will take the camera off you and beat the f*cking sh*t out of you.

It’s like spotting a giraffe walking down the street. I get it. I can see people’s behaviour, I can see when a camera’s coming, I can see when a phone is moving, I can see people’s body language. There is no difference between that and a weapon. The hyper-vigilance.

It’s just odd. But [pictures of my] kids are a fucking no. They really are. And that’s what really bothers me, and it will fast-track me immediately to respond like any father in any situation, regardless of where they come from and what they’ve been through.

Hardy also spoke at length about the reputation he’s built for himself in the movies as an emotionally stunted knuckle-sarnie-obsessed man’s man.

The truth couldn’t be farther from that typecast.

He said:

Once the Americans saw me in Bronson, they said, ‘Oh? You kick heads in? Oh, you’re a violent guy? We’ll take you!’ And little do they know that I’m not a violent guy, I’m emotionally very sensitive — hee! — and quite vulnerable! But I pretended.

But my difficulties probably manifested from the fact that I am sensitive. And trying to explain that brittle, slightly feminine quality that I have, because there’s a physicality about me that is masculine, and then also I’m quite bitchy…

Still, his latest flick Venom does little to showcase that bitchy side.

Venom will hit cinemas on October 5 2018.
