CORRECTION:

We, UNILAD, claimed the man ate at KFC for a full year for free, by claiming he was from head office. This story was later found to be false by an independent fact checker.

There has never been, nor will there ever be, anything better than food. Don’t even try to argue with me, a fact is a fact.

I refuse to believe a person exists who doesn’t think about food at every waking moment; I mean, the possibilities are actually endless. As soon as you wake up? Food. On the way to work? Food. Sat at your desk? Food, food, food.

So the possibility of getting free food – especially KFC – for an entire year is really something I aspire to achieve. Just maybe not in a way that’s going to get me arrested, as one man did recently.

India Today reports that the man in question, a 27-year-old student of the University of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa, tricked employees at the fast food chain into giving him free KFC for a whole year by saying he had been sent from the head office to inspect the quality.

Which, you know, is complete genius. Well, it would have been complete genius if only he hadn’t gotten caught and ultimately arrested for his actions.

The 27-year-old kept up the act for months, walking into the food chain with an air of confidence and telling staff he was there for quality assurance checks of the food served in the restaurant.

He didn’t stop there though; as reported by Xpouzar, the man carried a fake ID card from ‘head office’ and also pulled up to the fast food restaurants each day in a limo – which was actually driven by his friend, who was a part-time limo driver.

You’ve got to hand it to the guy, he really did think of everything. Visiting different outlets each day, the man somehow managed to trick KFC staff in the Durban area into giving him free food every day for a year.

A member of staff from KFC said, as per Xpouzar:

When he arrived we will all try to act our best so that we don’t piss off man from head office, he was so convincing because he was so confident and even colleagues from other KFC’s knows him.

When he comes in he rushed to the kitchen and check everything taking notes and then ask for samples of whatever he wants. He probably worked for KFC before because he knows everything.

Since the story was shared on social media, people have praised the unknown man in their thousands, calling him a ‘legend’ and a ‘hero’ for duping staff for so long.

Regardless of whether you agree, you’ve got to have some respect for how ballsy he was. But alas, all good things must come to an end. Sorry, mate.
