Officially speaking, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is a game shrouded in mystery. It’s a lot like the Force in the original trilogy in that respect.
Unofficially speaking, we probably know far more than we should about Fallen Order. It’s a lot like the Force in the prequel trilogy in that respect.
Let’s start with the official stuff before we dive into the murkier waters of rumour and speculation. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is a single player game that’s being published by EA and developed by Titanfall developer Respawn.
We also know that the game is set to take place after Revenge of The Sith, and will deal with the fallout of Order 66 – you know, the one that resulted in the Jedi nearly being completely wiped out.
This one is probably kind of obvious, but we also know that the game will have lighstaber duels. I mean, we’d be pretty disappointed if it didn’t, right? A behind the scenes video on EA’s future games showed a couple of motion capture artists duking it out Jedi style.
Okay, so that’s all the official information for now, but there are some delicious rumours to sink our teeth into.
The most likely of these is that the game will be releasing in November 2019, which has been suggested by one Reddit user who attended a Star Wars marketing event, and also teased by EA, who have previously spoke of a holiday 2019 release window for the game.
That same Reddit user also disclosed a number of (currently unconfirmed) plot details. The game will indeed take place after Revenge of the Sith, and will see players take control of a young Padawan who survived the purge.
As you’d expect, this Padawan is pretty cheesed off about current events, and so he embarks on a quest for vengeance.
Here’s what leaker Xyzsvtabc had to say about the plot:
The main character whose name is Cal (I forget his last name). He’s was a padawan that survived the efforts to kill all of the remaining Jedi. Not a ton of gameplay info but some of the other story lines are that he has a mentor figure who is a woman named Ceres. The only other thing I remember is them talking about other characters they would come across from some of the comics. The mentioned the 9th sister and 2nd sister? Something about Inquisitors? I wish I could remember more about this. They showed a ton of artwork.
Oh, and one final rumour for you. The current talk is that EA want Battlefront 2 to be the main focus for multiplayer Star Wars action, so it’s looking like Fallen Order will be a true blooded single-player experience.
