A first-person shooter virtual reality game entitled John Wick Chronicles was released in 2017, but the hitman has finally got his own strategy game which is in development for consoles, Windows PC and Mac, via the Epic Games Store.
Good Shepherd Entertainment announced today (May 8) the upcoming video game, called John Wick Hex, is being helmed by game designer Mike Bithell, the man behind Thomas Was Alone and Volume.
Check out the first trailer for John Wick Hex here:
In a press release, the game publisher described John Wick Hex as ‘a fast-paced, action-oriented strategy game that makes you think and strike like, John Wick’.
Created in close cooperation with the creative and stunt teams behind the films, John Wick Hex is fight-choreographed chess brought to life as a video game, capturing the series’ signature gun fu style while expanding its story universe.
Players must choose every action and attack they make, while considering their immediate cost and consequences. Every move in John Wick Hex feels like a scene from the movies, and every fight contributes to your progress on the job and requires precise strategic thinking.
An original story has been created for the game, and as you progress in the main story mode, you will be able to unlock new weapons, suit options and locations which will change how you play it.
Good Shepherd Entertainment promises ‘ammo is finite and realistically simulated’ so you will have to bear this in mind while playing.
So far it has been revealed John Wick actors Ian McShane and Lance Reddick will be lending their voice talents to the game.
The press release teases other cast members will be announced at a later date, and we really hope this includes Wick himself, Keanu Reeves.
There is no word yet on when the game will be released, but luckily the third installment in the film franchise, John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, is out next week.
Wick’s future didn’t look good at the end of the second film when not only was he declared ‘excommunicado’ from the Continental, but a global bounty was offered putting a $14 million dollar price on his life.
The third chapter then is set to be intense, thrilling and action-packed. And soon we’ll be able to play along!
John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum is set for release on May 17.
