Fans of driving virtual cars at high speeds rejoice: EA has officially unveiled the newest chapter in its brum brum franchise, Need For Speed: Payback.
Fast cars, insane stunts, and breakneck speeds mean Payback is basically more of the same for the series, but hey – if it ain’t broke, why fix it? Check out the extended reveal trailer below.
As well as the usual four-wheel shenanigans, EA have promised a significant story element with a ‘blockbuster’ plot ‘fuelled by a gripping story of betrayal and revenge’. I’m intrigued.
We’ll be playing as three characters this time around, in the form of Tyler ‘the racer, Mac ‘the showman’, and Jess, ‘the wheelman’ – although if EA cared about being PC they’d refer to Jess as the Wheelperson. (I’m joking, obviously).
This golden trio are up against a criminal cartel known as The House, whose only weakness is losing street races, I assume.
Fans of the series will also be glad to know that Payback features a heavy focus on vehicle customisation, allowing players to create ‘truly personal’ rides.
Need for Speed: Payback is due out on Xbox One, PS4, and PC on November 10.
