There’s a new AAA game studio on the block looking to join the fray with their own brand of online action games.
Based in San Jose, Cold Iron was established a little over a year ago and is currently developing its first major action game for consoles and PC – an original sci-fi title on Unreal Engine 4.
The studio’s co-founder and CEO, Craig Zinkievich said in a press release:
We couldn’t be more excited to finally introduce the world to Cold Iron.We decided to start this studio last year with exactly one goal in mind: to create compelling games that we wanted to play absolutely all the time. To do that, we put together a pitch, built a great prototype, got fully-funded, and are now building an unstoppable team. We’re working hard on a AAA online action game that is literally out of this world, and we cannot wait to share it with you.
The team at Cold Iron are experienced veterans of the business, and their previous work stands them in good stead to develop a science fiction adventure, given that the members of the team have worked on games like Metroid Prime 3, DOOM, BioShock Infinite, and Borderlands.
Zinkievich is joined by CTO Shannon Posniewski, and creative director Matt Highison, all three of whom worked at Cryptic Studios at various points in time, bringing games like City of Villains and Star Trek Online to life.
Cold Iron definitely seems like a talented team with some great experience under their collective belts – be sure to keep an eye out for more news on their debut project.
