I’m sure you’ve heard by now that a new Tomb Raider movie is on the way, based on the excellent 2013 video game reboot by Crystal Dynamics.
While the prospect of yet another video game movie is enough to make us wary, nobody can argue that Alicia Vikander – the new Lara Croft – doesn’t absolutely look the part of our intrepid raider of tombs in new set photos (via The Daily Mail)
Vikander won an Oscar for her acting abilities in The Danish Girl, and I’m pretty sure they don’t just give those out (I know, I’ve asked, and nobody ever returns my emails).
Frankly, I think she looks excellent in the part, and exactly as the character looked in the 2013 game and its recent sequel – more human, more relateable, and ultimately, far more interesting.
Going from the bandages strapped around her legs and arms, it would seem that Vikander’s Croft is gonna have as hard as time as we all had in the 2013 game. If you haven’t played it, to say Lara had a bad day would be a gross understatement.
Directed by Roar Uthaug (who worked on the excellent disaster movie Wave), we can expect to see this new Tomb Raider in cinemas March 16, 2018.
