Pokemon GO About To Get 100 New Pokemon
Good news for those six or seven of you who are still playing Pokemon GO: It looks like 100 new monsters are soon joining the party.
Dataminers over at Silph Road have scanned through an update that’s been added (but not yet activated) to the once hugely popular mobile game, coming across Pokedex references to critters #152 to #251.
I should point out that this isn’t official confirmation by any stretch, but it is very strong evidence that the game is likely about to get a ton of new Pokemon.
Naturally, any real Pokemon trainer will know that #152 (Chikorita) to #251 (Celebi) covers all the ‘mon from ‘gen two’ – Pokemon Gold & Silver (which were objectively the best in the franchise, by the way).
Of course, not everyone is as lame as me and can recall the National Pokedex off by heart, so below you’ll find a list of the new Johto monsters making their way to Pokemon GO.
Deep breath now:
That’s not all, by the way. The dataminers also found a slew of new features, including a new move, ‘transform, which heavily suggests that Ditto will finally be joining the game.
There are also references to a new daily and weekly quest system that offers rewards and bonuses for completing tasks. Presumably, these will be tied to beating a certain number of gyms or walking a certain distance.
It certainly looks like Pokemon GO is all set for its biggest update yet – while I can’t imagine it’ll ever pull back in as many players as it once had, this could well entice a good number back into the fold.
