With the beta for Red Dead Online expected to launch at end of November, fans think they’ve worked out just how this exciting multiplayer mode will begin.
A number of players have discovered a glitch that allows you to get to the other side of the San Luis river, and over to Mexico for a brief mini break. You can see the glitch in action below, courtesy of ZacCoxTV – but be wary of spoilers.
There’s nothing terribly interesting once you make it to Mexico, apart from one prominent building that makes its return from the first Red Dead Redemption; El Presidio, which fans of the series will remember is a key location, serving as a fort/prison of sorts.
The inclusion of El Presidio in Red Dead Redemption 2 has given many fans cause to believe that Red Dead Online will start with a jailbreak from the prison before crossing over the border to join the larger game world in online Western romps.
It certainly makes sense for a tutorial/intro location to be just outside of the main map so that players can get a feel for the mode before being thrown into a world of griefers and bandits.
This theory is given more weight by the fact that a “Breakout” achievement has been discovered in Red Dead Redemption 2. The requirements of which are, apparently, to complete the intro to Red Dead Online.
If that’s not enough evidence for you, the icon for this achievement (at least on Xbox One) is shackles. That reeks of a prison escape to me. They have a very distinct smell, to be fair.
We’ll find out for sure how Red Dead Online kicks off when the mode launches at the end of this month. My money is on a daring prison break, personally.
