There’s a Red Dead game coming to PlayStation 4! Unfortunately, it’s simply a re-release of the PS2 original Red Dead Revolver, not the new game we’ve all been waiting several centuries for.
I say unfortunately, Red Dead Revolver is still a great game, and well worth checking out for anyone who loves Redemption and wants to see where Rockstar’s Wild West franchise began.
As is the case with other PS2 to PS4 ports, you can expect upscaled (not remastered) visuals running at 1080p, as well as trophies, Shareplay, Remote Play, Activity Feeds and Second Screen support for game manuals with PS Vita or PS App.
Red Dead Revolver hit the PS2 and Xbox all the way back in 2004. Rockstar actually picked up the rights to the game from Capcom when it acquired Angel Studios. That team would go on to become Rockstar San Diego.
A sequel came to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2010, but I don’t think it did very well. Not many people played it, or really cared from what I can gather.
Red Dead Revolver is available to download now on the PlayStation Store for £11.99.
Though it’s yet to be officially confirmed, it’s widely believed that Rockstar are busy working on a sequel for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. God speed.
