Like most things in the Star Wars universe, the (mostly) excellent Force Unleashed spinoff games were intended to be a trilogy.
It’s a real shame that the third entry in the dark side focused action adventure game never saw the light of day, especially after the promise of the first game was mostly squandered on the initial sequel.
Fortunately, what seems to be some old prototype footage for Force Unleashed 3 has surfaced on the web, thanks to Corra_Ashu – check it out below:
As you can see, the project was in very early stages, as the footage only really shows what us what the game might have looked like in motion on a basic level.
It certainly looks like what Force Unleashed 3 would have delivered is more of the same blend of platforming and lighsaber/force powers based combat, as well as a new way to take down larger enemies by climbing them – Shadow of the Colossus style.
Back in 2015, it was revealed that the cancelled game would have seen the protagonist Starkiller teaming up with his former mentor-turned-adversary to deal with a large new threat from the Emperor himself.
While it certainly sounds like it would’ve been pretty cool, there’s no use crying over spilt Jedi milk. Besides, we’ve plenty of Star Wars games to look forward to in the coming years – including Battlefront II.
Still, a third Force Awakens game made specifically for the Xbox One/PlayStation 4 would have been something special… maybe one day.
