These days, it usually takes teams of hundreds to put together a AAA title – a notion that one indie developer is keen to challenge with his new game.
Yang Bing, a dev based in South Korea, just dropped a trailer for his passion project, and it looks incredible.
Lost Soul Aside has a level of visual quality up there with Final Fantasy 15, and a combat style that recalls the likes of Ninja Gaiden and Devil May Cry.
Bing was apparently inspired to start work on Lost Soul Aside around two years ago when he first saw Final Fantasy 15. Clearly our boy hasn’t been fucking around during this time.
I’m not gonna pretend there aren’t a few rough edges here and there, but be fair – this is the work of one single person. I can just barely cook myself dinner, let alone make anything like this.
Check out the trailer below.
Following the release of the trailer, Bing thanked supporters for their kind words:
I read many comments yesterday, thank you for encouraging me and thank you for asking to help, I can say nothing else but thank you guys. Some people said they get some motivation to do their own game, I’m very glad to be that guy though I’m just a normal developer. Thank you again.
Many also encouraged Bing to set up his own Kickstarter page, or else offered him their own monetary support if he could get the game finished and released – however, the developer made it clear that such pressure is too much responsibility for him right now.
It’s not clear if Lost Soul Aside will ever see a release, but rumour has it that Bing has now been approached by both Sony and Epic Games – let’s hope he gets the help he needs to get it done.
