A popular cosplayer has drowned in a swimming pool while on holiday on an island where she was visiting a ‘wealthy’ man.
25-year-old Liu Yoling, commonly known as ‘Jovie’, was a popular photographer and model of video game characters and medieval princesses.
She died on the island of Saipan, the largest Northern Mariana island in the Pacific, according to Chinese media.
Jovie was found in the water but couldn’t be resuscitated despite the efforts of those who found her.
It’s currently not known who her ‘wealthy’ host is, nor are any further details around the case.
Jovie’s death has shocked her hundreds of thousands of social media followers, with an outpouring of love on both Chinese social media platform Sina, Weibo and Instagram.
Jovie also had her own photo studio and ten apprentices.
She’s been reported as being China’s most enthusiastic cosplayer, dressing up as classic characters from popular video games such as ‘Street Fighter’.
She also dressed up as old medieval princesses from the Chinese dynasties.
Her family had already been notified of the death and were travelling to the island when the news broke, according to reports.
Our thoughts are with her friends and family.
