The Five Most Extreme Celebrity Weight Losses and Gains

In the glitz and glamour of Hollywood, its A-listers are willing to go to extreme lengths for their art…

Many have seriously bulked up for roles, but there are many that have had to drop a staggering amount of weight to star in feature films.

These five in particular look jaw-droppingly different after their transformations…

Chris Hemsworth

First up is Chris Hemsworth. He’s the latest star to embark on a dramatic weight loss and embarked on the “starvation diet” in 2013 for his latest film “Lost At Sea”, which premieres next month.

Compared to his Thor days, he looks incredibly scrawny and had to take in just 500-600 calories a day to achieve this look. It’s fair to say he’s nailed it.

50 Cent

Renowned rapper 50 Cent was famous for being a beefed up gangster, who’s been shot a few times. But after making millions from his music career, he embarked on becoming a movie star.

A liquid-only diet combined with daily three-hour treadmill walks led to this shocking transformation. He lost four stone to play a football player who contract cancer in Things Fall Apart.

Christian Bale

He is probably renowned as one of the biggest stars to yo-yo diet for the roles he’s had to play. Christian Bale shrunk down to an incredible eight and a half stone for The Machinist.

Soon after he had to bulk up again for Batman. A man dedicated to the art, obviously.

Natalie Portman

Alongside Mila Kunis, Natalie Portman had to shed 20lbs for starring in the Oscar nominated film- Black Swan. What made her weight loss even more drastic was the fact she was already very skinny before losing the weight.

Her incredibly dainty figure made her a perfect match to play the troubled ballet dancer.

Charlize Theron

Charlize Theron had to put on a fair bit of weight on to act in a role as infamous serial killer and former prostitute Aileen Wuornos in the film Monster.

She was however, desperate to lose the weight again in time for the Academy awards. She lost more than a stone in a month against doctors orders, just so she could look her best.

And who said being a movie star was easy?
