Family Offer £50,000 Salary To Nanny, But There’s A Seriously Creepy Catch

£50,000 a year to live in a beautiful Scottish village free of charge just for looking after two kids seems like the job of a lifetime.

In the Scottish Borders, in a ‘lovely, spacious, historic property with spectacular views’, your job is to look after a five and seven year old – but there’s a pretty terrifying catch.

The house is supposedly very haunted – and spirits have forced the past five nannies out of the house never to return.

The advert, posted to Childcare.co.uk, begins like I imagine any ad for a nanny would:

We are looking for an exceptional live-in nanny to join our friendly family of four in the Scottish Borders. We have 2 children ages 5 and 7, and live in a lovely, spacious, historic property with spectacular views.

Duties would include preparing breakfast, getting the children ready for school, dropping off and picking up from school and assisting after school, including helping with homework and getting them ready for bed.

But rather quickly things get very creepy:

We have lived in our home for nearly 10 years. We were told it was ‘haunted’ when we bought it, but kept our minds open and decided to buy the house regardless.

Five nannies have left the role in the last year, each citing supernatural incidents as the reason, including strange noises, broken glass and furniture moving.

This has obviously been a period of great upheaval for our children. We haven’t personally experienced any supernatural happenings, as they have been reported only while we’ve been out of the house, but we’re happy to pay above the asking rate, and feel it’s important to be as up-front as possible to find the right person.

Now I’m sure a lot of you will question the authenticity of the above advert and Richard Conway, the CEO of Childcare.co.uk, was initially dubious too.

Warner Bros.

However after getting in touch with the previous nannies and speaking to the family, Conway is certain the post is a legitimate one.

He said:

When we saw the advert we were stunned. Some of the guys at HQ were sceptical but after talking to the family and their previous employees we realised it was a genuine position.

We have hundreds of thousands of providers on the site and we’re hoping that one of them will be able to help them.
