A Japanese company has created a 2,000 piece jigsaw puzzle that has quite literally been described as ‘pure hell’.

It says it all, really. I think we’ve all been annoyed by jigsaws before, and I can pretty much guarantee that’s when there’s a picture involved.

But just imagine the frustration that would come with trying to piece together a puzzle that has no obvious pattern, no tell-tale colour clues and no satisfying image to work towards. There’s only one way to describe it, and that’s ‘pure white hell’.

The game comes from the Japanese company Beverly, and is made up of a blank page that’s been cut up into 2,000 little pieces ready for you to attempt to put back together again.

It’s definitely not for the amateur puzzler, and I certainly wouldn’t recommend playing around young children because there’s no chance you could get through this game without swearing. Plus, this isn’t an easy afternoon type of job, I reckon at least a week or more of pure concentration.

The creators clearly aren’t willing to pretend this puzzle is going to be easy, and alongside the title they include a couple of other indicators of its difficulty, with warnings on the box reading ‘the great king of hell has arrived’ and ‘please do not buy this if you are a beginner’. There’s also a skull and crossbones, just for good measure.

The game is available on eBay, or if you’re interested in giving the puzzle a go but are daunted by the prospect of there being 2,000 pieces, then there’s a 1,000 piece version available on Amazon. Though, if you manage to successfully complete 1,000 pieces then you might as well go for the 2,000 – you’re obviously some kind of superhuman.

Reviews say the puzzle stopped players ‘dead in their tracks’, with one recommending it would make a good gift to ‘torture someone who loves puzzles’.

Self-isolation might have left you with a lot of time on your hands, but I don’t think there’s enough time in the world to complete this hellish game.
