Kirsty Bertarelli is the richest woman in Britain but we bet you’ve probably never heard of her.
It’s easy to sit here and mouth-off about how money isn’t really important, then again I suppose we can say that because most of us will never see £11.5 billion – although I’m still hoping some rich megalomaniac will pick my idea for a doggy-dating app.
But for billionaire Kristy Bertaerlli, aged 46, money has given her the ultimate status as the UK’s wealthiest woman. The former Miss UK has beaten the likes of J.K. Rowling and the Queen, who even with their combined wealth still fall under Bertarelli’s net worth.
According to the Daily Mail, the former beauty queen and mother-of-three is part of the Churchill China dynasty who happen to be the world’s largest ceramic manufacturers.
After finishing private school in North Wales – which is a prerequisite for any future billionaire – she became a jack-of-all-trades, switching between the worlds of modelling and music.
In 2000 she wrote the number one hit Black Coffee for iconic UK girl group All Saints. By that time she was already named Britain’s richest woman.
Proving that the rich only like to mingle in high places, in 1997 she met her future husband Ernesto Bertarelli, 51, who happens to be Switzerland’s richest man, thanks to his granddad’s pharmaceutical company, Serono.
Obviously they were meant to be.
