Mum Flies Across Country Because Her Daughter’s Head Hurt
Mums really are a different breed, they’ll do absolutely everything to make you feel better when you feel down.
They’ll cook for you, clean for you, make a brew whenever you want it and they’ll take care of you in whatever way you need.
Yet the mother of 22-year-old Grace Li, a high school teacher in New York, took it to the next level when she got a text from her daughter.
Grace’s mum, Shixia Huang, lives in Texas, but that didn’t stop her from making her way across the country at the drop of a hat as soon as she found out her daughter wasn’t feeling very well.
Shixia told Buzzfeed:
I was at work on Friday afternoon planning to work late that evening. Around 4.30pm, I got a message from Grace telling me she felt sick.
I called her and she told me she had this headache and we also chatted about her day and her weekend plans. I felt the headache was a bit unusual and that she missed home.
At this point, Shixia checked the price of flights between Texas and New York, went home, packed and arrived in New York the same night.
Luckily, Grace is feeling much better nowadays, thanks to her mum taking great care of her, with Grace revealing:
I spent the weekend seeing doctors and taking extra-strength Tylenol and watching TV with my mom.
Before she left she stayed up the night before cooking so I would have food for the rest of the week! She packed me two lunches and bought tupperware to store all the other food and now my fridge is so full.
Also, my kitchen is cleaner than I’ve ever seen it and all my cabinets are organised.
People on Twitter couldn’t handle the incredible story, pointing out the obvious fact Shixia is indeed parent goals.
Grace even revealed on Twitter how her mother’s concern didn’t stop when she got to her house in New York.
The first thing she did was zip me to her doctor friend I was like ‘mom it’s fine I’m sure this stabby head pain will pass’ and she was like LOL TIME TO SCHEDULE A CT SCAAAAANNNN
People absolutely loved Grace’s mum and at time of writing, the tweet has received 2,300 retweets and 8,700 likes.
No matter how old my daughter is, I will always cross the world for her.
When I could not do it physically one day, I will surely do it in my heart.
Mums are just the best, aren’t they?
