Photographer Reveals Striking Similarities Between Harry And Young Prince Philip

If you’ve ever dug out the family photos, you’ll know how surreal it is when you see an older relative as a child and realise they look exactly like you.

It’s even more spooky when you get a glimpse into the past of celebrities, or in this case, the Royals. After all, it isn’t every day you get to look at their private family albums.

But today is your lucky day because royal photographer, Chris Jackson, has given us all a little glimpse into the life of a young Prince Philip – and his resemblance to Prince Harry is giving people the chills!

The caption on his Instagram post read:

I spotted this beautiful 1957 vintage cover of a @parismatch_magazine whilst visiting our wedding venue in France a couple of years ago – Who does it remind you of!? Swipe right to see! [sic]

I think it may have been colourised from a black and white negative but correct me if I’m wrong. Was very happy when the lovely people at @chateaurigaud let me keep it! [sic]

Whilst today it’s very much a ‘Modern Monarchy’ it’s these historical reference points that make photographing the Royal family so unique and remind you of the centuries of tradition that remain at their core. #PrinceHarry #RoyalVisitAus #ParisMatch #History #DukeofEdinburgh #modernmonarchy [sic]

Jackson posted the image to his Instagram page yesterday (October 21):

The resemblance between the two princes is uncanny, with Prince Harry only two years younger now than the 36-year-old Duke of Edinburgh was when photographed in 1957.

Jackson references the Royal tradition, primarily because both Prince Philip and Prince Harry are wearing the Blues and Royals uniform in both pictures.

Fans of the Royal Family couldn’t believe the similarity between the pair, especially as most social media users have grown up knowing the older Duke of Edinburgh.

One person commented underneath the picture:

What a find. Uncanny resemblance. Quite handsome both of them.

While another said:

I thought the exact same thing! Prince Harry looks just like his Grandfather in the same uniform.

Another made reference to the speculation how perhaps Prince Charles is not Harry’s biological father:

Your reference to the monarchy’s history is really good and quite true. Sometime we need to look back so the way forward is made clear.

And yes! I saw another picture of Prince Harry once and thought how much he resembled the Duke of Edinburgh . Which rather puts the James Hewitt speculation to the grave. [sic]

Jackson is the same photographer who’s currently following the Duke and Duchess of Sussex around on their Royal tour.

The couple began their first tour outside of the UK and Ireland last week (October 15), which will see them visiting Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Tonga over 16 days.

As soon as they arrived, they were greeted by hundreds of fans and showered with affection and presents. But they could be forgiven if they’d missed Meghan Markle’s touching tribute to her mother-in-law, Princess Diana.

In another reference to the past, Meghan wore a stunning pair of butterfly earrings, which according to the Daily Mail were first worn by Princess Diana on her 1986 royal tour to Canada.

The Duchess of Sussex paired the earrings with a simple gold bracelet containing blue stones, which is also thought to have belonged to Diana, who was pictured wearing it on several occasions.

Jackson was there to capture both of these blasts from the past, so if you’re a dedicated Royal fan, I’d be keeping an eye on his Instagram for more!
