If you think you already know your dream job, then let me present you with what is actually your dream job, you just didn’t know it.

You can say dog handler, you can say gin expert, but you’d be wrong, because this guy definitely has the best job in the world, and he’s making a killing while doing it.

Tom Harrington has actually made a career out of professionally putting up other people’s decorations, and he’s charging them £4,000 for the privilege.

The Manchester Evening News spoke to Tom, who has set up his own business called Harrington’s Christmas Decorators with George Pullar, who decorates the homes of Manchester celebrities to give them that festive feel.

Think Manchester United players, and Real Housewives of Cheshire stars, and probably some Corrie actors too.

It’s not as easy as it sounds, though, and Tom says it takes ‘months’ of planning, with some set-ups even beginning in September. He’ll even take them down for you when Christmas is over.

He told the MEN:

Generally we start planning the final look a few weeks before but sometimes it’s a few months before depending on the size of the job.

I set up the business in 2015 after my old office based in Oxford asked me to decorate.

They gave me two boxes of decorations, I decorated in their corporate colours and thought I could help their business.

I’ve always embraced Christmas. We had about five or six in the trees in the house and it looked like a grotto.

Let us take the stress out of Christmas and dress your home to impress this Festive season. With just 16 weeks until…

He continued:

I start work in September time and this year we’ve got just over 20 houses to decorate.

We’re busy from November through to the take downs in January. We come back and remove the decorations and put them into storage.

In January we go to Harrogate for the trade fair then Frankfurt for the international trade fair then we start planning for the next Christmas.

It takes a lot of pressure off as there’s a lot of work and a lot of planning that goes into Christmas.
