Steven Tyler Shares How Much He's Spent On Drugs In Resurfaced Interview As He Checks Into Rehab

Steven Tyler revealed how much money he's spent on drugs in a resurfaced interview.

Earlier this week, his band Aerosmith announced that they would be cancelling upcoming shows after the singer voluntarily checked himself into rehab.

The 74-year-old has relapsed after taking pain medication for foot surgery, following more than a decade of sobriety.

In an interview back in 2013 on 60 Minutes Australia, he said that he had spent a fortune on drugs throughout his life.

Asked whether it was true he had spent $20 million (£15.9 million) on drugs, he replied: "No, probably realistically, five or six, easy.

"But it doesn't matter - you could also say I've snorted half of Peru... It's what we did."

In a statement shared on social media on Tuesday (24 May), Aerosmith said they would have to cancel their first set of shows in June and July for their Las Vegas residency at Park MGM.

"As many of you know, our beloved brother Steven has worked on his sobriety for many years," the band said.

"After foot surgery to prepare for the stage and the necessity of pain management during the process, he has recently relapsed and voluntarily entered a treatment program to concentrate on his health and recovery.

"We are truly sorry to inform our fans and friends that we must cancel our first set of Las Vegas Residency dates this June and July while he focuses on his well-being.

"We will continue our 2022 dates starting in September, and we'll let you know any further updates as soon as we can."

The statement continued: "We are devastated that we have inconvenienced so many of you, especially our most loyal fans who often travel great distances to experience our shows.

"Thank you for your understanding and for your support for Steven during this time."

Tyler has been open about his struggles with addiction in the past, revealing in 2019 that his bandmates had staged an intervention with him in 1988.
