Billie Eilish Says She Shouldn't Be Headlining Coachella And Apologises For Not Being Beyonce

The award-winning singer became the legendary festival's youngest ever headliner on Saturday

Billie Eilish took a moment during her headline set Coachella on Saturday to thank her fans for coming out to support her, before expressing disbelief at her own meteoric rise to fame and her place in the lineup.

“This is so weird,” she said during a brief pause in the proceedings. “I really should not be headlining this s**t”

"But I'm so f***ing grateful that I'm here, and that you guys are all here," she went on. "This is such a dream come true. I feel crazy."

She then followed up the comments with a powerful rendition of her 2018 song 'You Should See Me in a Crown'.

Eilish, 20, performed her first-ever Coachella set in 2019 at just 18 years old, and her return to the desert this year marks her as the festival’s youngest ever headliner, according to Rolling Stone.

The award-winning pop star hit the stage on Saturday wearing an oversized T-shirt and with her black hair bunched up in pigtails. Throughout the set, she addressed the crowd several times to emphasise the importance of being comfortable and confident in yourself

“I’ve got three rules for the night,” she declared midway through the set.

"You're not allowed to judge anybody out here."

"I want us all to feel loose and good and comfortable in our skin, and like, free, and happy," she later added.

"And I want you to just imagine that there's no bad in the world and there's only good."

Eilish, who has already racked up seven Grammys in her short career, was joined on stage by several guest stars throughout the night.

To no one’s surprise, rapper Khalid was brought out to sing their song 'Lovely' to the delight of the crowd, the performance being the second guest appearance of the night for Khalid, who also played with Disclosure.

Elilish’s brother and longtime collaborator Finneas also joined her for a few numbers on stage, performing a brief acoustic interlude alongside the song ‘Your Power.’

But it was Blur and Gorillaz frontman Damon Albarn who ended up being the biggest surprise of the night, joining Billie on stage to perform a tongue-in-cheek duet of her song ‘Getting Older’ before joining forces with Posdnuos of De La Soul for a showstopping rendition of Gorillaz hit ‘Feel Good Inc’.

At the end of her 90-minute performance, Eilish took another moment to thank her fans.

"Thank you, Coachella. I'm sorry I'm not Beyoncé," she said. "I love you, good night.”
