With a career spanning more than half a century, Dolly Parton has been the subject of more than her fair share of tabloid gossip and rumours.
The country star's hits speak for themselves, with the singer having composed more than 3,000 songs in her lifetime, for which she's received 11 Grammy awards from 50 nominations.
But alongside her career and her equally remarkable achievements as a humanitarian and philanthropist, Parton has also long been the subject of attention for her appearance, putting up with all sorts of speculation about her looks over the years.
Now, Parton has decided to clear up one of the longest-standing rumours about herself, as she finally puts an end to questions about whether or not her breasts are insured.

During an appearance on the Today show, Parton shattered the myth, revealing, 'It's not true,' before going on to explain that she herself had inadvertently started the rumour 'years ago'.
'Was it Betty Grable, or one of the great famous stars that was famous also for her legs? At that time, I said 'Well maybe I should get my boobs insured since I'm famous for them,' she said, explaining 'it was just a joke. I didn't do that.'
Celebs insuring their body parts has been a weird fascination for the tabloids over the years. Other famous faces to have supposedly gone to the bank to protect limbs and other features include Rihanna, who claimed that Gillette once insured her legs to the tune of $1 million USD after she was named 'Celebrity Legs of a Goddess' of the year, and America Ferrara, whose smile was reportedly insured for £7 million after she fronted a tooth whitening campaign for Aquafresh.
But explaining why she opted not to go down that route, Parton joked during her Today appearance, 'you can get new boobs but you can't get new legs!'

The star has previously made light about the attention she's been subjected to as a result of her breasts, saying she can't help but laugh at some of the more ridiculous rumours.
'It shows up about every three years in the tabloids, where I'm bedridden because my boobs are so heavy that I'm crippled for life on my back,' she told PEOPLE in 2020, adding, 'Well, they are heavy, but they haven't crippled me yet.'
