Drake appears to have responded to negative comments about his latest album following its surprise release this week.
Music lovers were both delighted and intrigued to wake up to the news of Drake's new album, Honestly, Nevermind, on Friday (17 June) following the success of his 2021 hit record Certified Lover Boy, so after it dropped at midnight in the US fans were quick to start listening to his new tracks.
Unfortunately it failed to hit the spot for a lot of listeners, but Drake was later caught assuring people that was 'all good'.
Hear his response below:
In the clip shared online, Drake can be seen talking to the camera while his song 'Calling My Name' plays in the background. There's little context given to his comments, but both the timing and nature of them suggest he was responding to negativity as he said: “It’s all good if you don’t get it yet."
“That’s what we do! We wait for you to catch up,” he continued. “We in here, though, we caught up already. On to the next. My goodness!”
The criticism over the album comes as Drake appeared to change direction from his previous releases with his latest album, which fits more into the house music or electronic genre than his former hip-hop sound.
Some Twitter users have described the album as 'trash' following its release, while one person wrote: "Honestly nevermind is exactly how I felt after listening to that album lol it's a pass for me."
Another asked: “Is Drake trolling us?”

Though it's definitely a departure from what fans might have expected from Drake, the album has found some appreciative listeners as one person wrote: "HONESTLY, NEVERMIND already a classic."
Echoing Drake's assurances that people would 'catch up', another Twitter user wrote: "This new Drake album #HonestlyNevermind will find its audience. It’s not typical of him but there’s quality there. Made for a different audience.”
In a poetic statement released along with the album, Drake said: "I let my humbleness turn to numbness at times letting time go by knowing I got the endurance to catch it another time.

“I work with every breath in my body cause it’s the work not air that makes me feel alive. That’s some real detrimental sh*t but that’s that sh*t my perfectionist mind doesn’t really mind because no one knows what's on my mind when I go to sleep at 9 & wake up at 5—unless I say it in rhyme.”
Honestly, Nevermind is Drake's seventh studio album and features 14 songs including 'Falling Back', which comes accompanied with a music video featuring a cameo from Tristan Thompson.
