Final Glastonbury Headliners Announced In Massive Full Line Up Reveal

The iconic festival is set to come back with a bang this year.

Glastonbury has revealed its headliners in the first line-up poster for the upcoming 2022 festival.

The festival shared the massive announcement on Twitter today, March 4, ahead of the event which is set to take place between June 22 and June 26.

It comes after organisers were forced to cancel Glastonbury for two years in a row as a result of the coronavirus outbreak, forcing many of those who bought tickets for the 2020 event to endure a longer wait than ever before.

In true Glastonbury fashion, the festival is packed with A-listers and icons including Billie Eilish and Diana Ross, who has been confirmed for a legends slot.

More headliners were announced today, with Paul McCartney set to take over the Pyramid Stage on the Saturday before Kendrick Lamar puts on a show on the Sunday.

Other acts confirmed to appear at the festival include Blossoms, Charlie XCX, Elbow, Declan McKenna, Holly Humberstone, Megan Thee Stallion, Jessie Ware, Pet Shop Boys and Sam Fender, promising a varied and undeniably entertaining weekend of music for all those who have been able to snag tickets.

Speaking about the return of the festival, co-founder Michael Eavis said: 'After 51 years, the enthusiasm from people to actually want to come is still there. Which is very reassuring to me. You’d think by now people would be beginning to get fed up with the idea. But they’re definitely not!'

Eilish was announced as 'the youngest solo headliner' in Glastonbury history last year, with co-founder Emily Eavis saying organisers 'couldn’t be happier to announce that the wondrous Billie Eilish is headlining the Pyramid on the Friday at next year's Glastonbury Festival,' adding: 'This feels like the perfect way for us to return and I cannot wait!'

Eavis also expressed her excitement to have McCartney on board after he was previously due to headline the 2020 festival. The Beatles legend last played the festival in 2004, and Eavis told BBC News they were 'beyond' excited when he finally confirmed.

She added: 'For us, having Paul McCartney is obviously a dream, a huge moment in our history. It means the world getting Paul McCartney to Glastonbury.'

Excitement for the festival is evident in the fact that it is already sold out, despite the final acts having only just been announced. Those who have tickets are set to enjoy the music at the usual venue of Somerset village of Pilton at Worthy Farm.
