Halsey has spoken out about how their chronic illness has been affected by the Grammys and Coachella.

The 27-year-old 'Without Me' singer - real name Ashley Nicolette Frangipane - took to Instagram on Sunday, 24 April to open up to fans about the battles she has been facing with endometriosis - a chronic and often debilitating condition which affects one in 10 women.

The star warned they may have to 'stop for real' if they fail to rest themself properly now.

Halsey explained they have been 'in and out of the hospital for the past few weeks dealing with some new challenges'.

She said: "Trying my best to keep things normal; Grammys, Coachella etc.

"But my body is putting up a strong protest. And ultimately demanding that I slow down or stop for real this time. Especially so I can be in the best shape for tour."

The singer went on to explain how 'chronic illness is a complex mystery'.

She continued: "If I am or have been MIA [missing in action] please don't take it personally.

"I am doing the best I can under difficult circumstances."

Fans of the singer have since flooded to social media in support.

One wrote: "Sending love to Halsey and anyone else on here dealing with chronic illness. You are so valid and so loved/supported."

Another referred back to a tweet Halsey posted in 2017 where they similarly spoke out about their battles with chronic illness.

"October 18 2017, @halsey tweeted “Touring with a chronic illness is equal parts challenging and rewarding. What aches my body, warms my heart. Love u guys," they said.

"Halsey being like “i’ve been in and out of the hospital because of chronic illness so sorry if i’m mia” after going to coachella is noa culture (being sick and powering through to do one fun thing and then needing to rest for two weeks)," another wrote.

Halsey revealed they underwent surgery just three days before the 64th Annual Grammy Award's red carpet.

"The last time I attended the Grammys was 2017 and it was three days after I had my first endometriosis surgery. I walked the carpet with my stitches still in," they reflected.

The singer asked fans to 'be gentle,' noting how 'fragile' she was feeling.

At The Endometriosis Foundation 2018's Blossom Ball, Halsey spoke out about her experiences with the condition.

The star first discovered she had endometriosis after suffering a miscarriage.
