Justin Bieber Updates Fans On His Health After Ramsay Hunt Syndrome Shock

The star was forced to cancel several dates of his current tour after suffering temporary facial paralysis.

Justin Bieber has provided an update on his health to fans in a recent Instagram post, having been forced to cancel dates on his Justice World Tour.

The 28-year-old popstar recently revealed he was suffering from Ramsay Hunt syndrome, which is caused by the same virus as chickenpox (VSZ).

Its symptoms can involve temporary facial paralysis and in a video posted on Friday, Bieber showed his followers the extent of the condition, with his right eye unable to blink and that whole side of his face unable to move.

In an Instagram story posted yesterday (13 June), the star re-affirmed his faith as he wrote that 'each day has gotten better and through all of the discomfort [he has] found comfort in the one who designed [him] and knows [him].'

Bieber continued: "I’m reminded he knows all of me. He knows the darkest parts of me that I want no one to know about and he constantly welcomes me into his loving arms."

He added: "This perspective has given me peace during this horrific storm that I’m facing,' he said. 'I know in this storm will pass but in the meantime JESUS IS WITH ME."

According to the Mayo Clinic, for most people with the condition, the hearing loss and facial paralysis associated with Ramsay Hunt syndrome is temporary, however, it can become permanent.

The update follows a three-minute video the 'Peaches' singer posted on Friday in which he explained his symptoms after having to cancel a number of his tour dates.

"Obviously as you can probably see with my face. I have this syndrome called Ramsay Hunt syndrome and it is from this virus that attacks the nerves in my ear and my facial nerves and has caused my face to have paralysis," he explained.

"There is full paralysis on this side my face.

"So for those who are frustrated by my cancellations of the next shows, I'm just physically obviously not capable of doing them. This is pretty serious as you can see."

The star had also posted a sad update on his Instagram Story over the weekend as he wrote: "Been getting progressively harder to eat which has been extremely frustrating, please pray for me [tearing up emoji]."

Bieber is currently on the US run of his 130-date world tour scheduled to last into next year.
