Lewis Capaldi Announces 2020 Tour And Support For People With Anxiety At Gigs

Lewis Capaldi has announced his 2020 tour alongside an incredible fan initiative, which helps support those with anxiety at his shows.

Capaldi has proven he’s more than just an incredible musician in recent months, rising to fame through his hilarious Instagram stories which could brighten anyone’s day (if you haven’t seen them, you absolutely need to).

And now it seems he’s even more than that, as he’s proved he’s got his fan’s best interests at heart with his new initiative to help those who struggle with anxiety and panic attacks, as well as fans with other emotional difficulties.

Lewis Capaldi GigPA

The initiative, called LIVELIVE, aims to help those who have concerns about attending the musician’s show, and who might not usually be able to attend because of particular emotional difficulties.

All tickets for the gigs will cost an additional 50p, which will go solely towards providing a dedicated team at each venue who are expertly trained and qualified in assisting fans with panic, anxiety, or any other concerns they may have.

Whether it be meeting fans at the door, escorting them to their seat, or taking people to a specially designated ‘escape space’ if needs be, he’s got it covered. All you need to do is visit the signposted ‘help points’ inside each venue.

Speaking about the initiative, the musician said he wanted to make his shows enjoyable for as many people as possible, and wants to make people feel comfortable enough for this to happen:

I always get tonnes of messages from people online who have said they want to come to my shows but can’t because they’re struggling massively with anxiety or are just generally afraid they will have a panic attack during the show.

I really wanted to put something in place to help those people feel comfortable and offer them support to allow them to experience the shows.

I hate to feel that anyone’s anxiety is making them miss out on anything they want to do and LIVELIVE is my attempt at helping make these shows enjoyable for as many of those people who have been supporting this journey for me!

Capaldi will be one of the first artists in history to announce an arena run before the release of a debut album; Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent will be released on May 17.

Regardless, I can guarantee the tour will be a sell-out due to the success of his hit single, Someone You Loved, which is the biggest UK single of the year so far. Kudos.

If you do fancy buying a ticket, Capaldi will be touring Manchester, Glasgow, Dublin, Cardiff, and London across six dates in March.

Tickets go on sale next Wednesday (April 24).
