Mariah Carey makes a huge amount of money in one year alone from All I Want For Christmas Is You

This is your sign to write a hit Christmas song.

If you want to make some easy money and never work again for the rest of your life, the solution is simple: write a hit Christmas song.

Artists like Michael Bublé, The Pogues, Kelly Clarkson, and Ariana Grande might do okay the other 11 months of the year, but when December comes around, they're absolutely rolling in it, thanks to their Christmas hits.

And at the top of the list of artists making bank this season is the one and only Mariah Carey, thanks to her 1994 hit single 'All I Want For Christmas Is You'.

The record-breaking song took Mariah and her songwriting partner Walter Afanasieff just 15 minutes to write and compose - and the payoff has been astronomical.

Though neither Mariah nor her team have ever disclosed exactly how much she makes each year from the hit Christmas song, researchers did some studying and have a figure in mind.

According to The Economist's data team, the singer earns approximately $2.5 million each year from the song.

The study, which was published in 2017, also suggested that, in 2016, Mariah had earned a total of $60 million for the track since it was first released.

So, assuming these figures are still the same, the math would suggest that as of 2022, Mariah will have earned a grand total of $87 million for that one song.

Those figures include years of record sales. Since its release, the track has sold an estimated 10 million copies, officially making it a Diamond-certified song. And, as of 2022, just 92 songs in history have been certified diamond.

Her take-home pay would also consist of payments that she receives from music streaming services like Spotify and Apple Music.

Last year, Spotify announced that 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' had reached one billion streams on its service.

Mariah also made history last year when the song reached the top of the Billboard charts for the third year in a row, making her the first artist in history to get the same song to Number One on the chart three different times.

Billboard has already announced that the songstress has successfully made it four in a row this year - though, between this year and last year, Harry Styles managed to beat her record for most ascents to the top of the charts with his single 'As It Was'.

Whether she's a record-holder or not, there's no denying that Mariah is set for life thanks to 'All I Want For Christmas Is You'.

Congrats to Mariah, the unofficial Queen of Christmas.
