Selena Gomez Hospitalised After Suffering ‘Emotional Breakdown’
Selena Gomez has been hospitalised after suffering an ’emotional breakdown’.
The singer has reportedly been hospitalised twice in the last two weeks. In the first instance, which happened in the last week of September, the 26-year-old had a worryingly low white blood cell count related to her Lupus and kidney transplant, which she underwent last year.
Family members are said to have driven her to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in L.A, where she was released days later, TMZ report.
However, the former Disney star had to return to hospital towards the end of last week as her blood cell count allegedly remained low. The situation upset Selena and she insisted on leaving soon after she was admitted, but doctors refused.
According to TMZ, the singer then had an ’emotional breakdown’ and tried to pull an IV out of her arm.
She is reportedly now being treated at an East Coast psychiatric facility, where she’s said to be dealing with anxiety and depression. Gomez is reported to be receiving dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT).
An insider told E! News:
Selena has been trying really hard recently to remain focused, and not let her health affect her.
She has been actively writing new music, and moved to Orange County for a change of pace and a fresh breath of air. Ultimately, with all of her arising health issues, Selena started to feel super overwhelmed.
E! report Selena completed a two-week treatment program for depression and anxiety in New York City earlier this year.
At the time, a source said:
She had a difficult year, especially towards the end, and she decided she wanted to spend some time focusing on herself. It was all about wellness and her health.
On September 23, the 26-year-old said she would be taking a break from social media, writing:
Update: taking a social media break. Again. As much as I am grateful for the voice that social media gives each of us, I am equally grateful to be able to step back and live my life present to the moment I have been given.
Kindness and encouragement only for a bit! Just remember- negative comments can hurt anybody’s feelings. Obvi.
The singer’s fans have been sharing love and support for Selena on Twitter.
