After a lengthy career including music, cinema, and entrepreneurship, Snoop Dogg has finally been honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

His wife of 21 years, Shante Taylor, stood proudly by his side as the 47-year-old rapper – real name Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr – accepted the prestigious accolade.

Crowds of fans headed to Hollywood Boulevard, hoping to get a glimpse of the charismatic hip-hop legend, while stars such as Dr Dre, Pharrell Williams and Warren G all showed up to show support for their fellow artist.

Originally from Long Beach, California, Snoop has had 17 Grammy award nominations, and has enjoyed enormous success with mega hits such as Who Am I? (What’s My Name?), Gin and Juice, The Next Episode and Drop It Like It’s Hot.

As reported by Sky News, producer Quincy Jones welcomed Snoop to the stage, speaking about his pride for everything the rapper has achieved since his debut album, Doggystyle, was released 25 years ago in November 1993.

Describing Snoop as a ‘positive role model’, Jones said:

I am so enormously proud of all you have achieved professionally, man. And personally too, for making doggy style a way of life. And for being one of the first entrepreneurs to be a positive role model and influence in the community.

And it’s no surprise to me because I’ve always known there’s no undertaking or challenge you could not overcome.

You are not just an artist and entertainer you are a visionary and you deserve this star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame and every other recognition that comes your way.

After thanking Jones – and his collaborators and fanbase – Snoop had plenty of gratitude to heap upon one special person in particular.

Recalling the hard work and dedicated attitude which has served him well in a competitive industry, Snoop gave himself a big, and well-deserved, pat on the back:

I want to thank me for believing in me, I want to thank me for doing all this hard work, I want to thank me for having no days off, I want to thank me for never quitting, I want to thank me for always being a giver and trying to give more than I receive.

I want to thank me for trying to do more right than wrong, I want to thank me for just being me at all times. Snoop Dogg, you a bad motherf*cker.

According to Billboard, producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Ana Martinez, praised Snoop’s many talents:

Snoop Dogg is one of those people who can do anything. He raps, he acts, he hosts a television show, he cooks, and helps community kids with his philanthropic work,

He is a man of the ages and we welcome him to our Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The eternally busy Snoop Dogg is known for juggling multiple eclectic projects at once. in October he released his very first cookbook – From Crook to Cook – featuring fifty of his favourite recipes.

Well done, Snoop Dogg!
