The Game admits he regrets saying Kanye West has done more for his career than Dr. Dre

The Game sparked controversy when he made the comment on Drink Champs

The Game indicated he has regrets over his drunken comment claiming Kanye West had done more for him in his career than Dr Dre ever had.

The American rapper made the bold statement during an episode of Drink Champs last year, when he sat down with hosts N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN to chat for more than four hours.

Drink Champs encourages guests to enjoy some alcohol, and after knocking back a few drinks The Game came out with his brazen claim: "Ye did more for me in the last two weeks, than Dre did for me my whole career”.

His comment came almost two decades into his career, around the same time he was promoting his song with Kanye, 'Eazy'.

Considering Dre had worked as a producer on The Game's major-label debut, the rapper's claim sparked controversy among music fans at the time.

Kanye himself was apparently among those who criticised the remark, according to N.O.R.E.

In a later episode of Drink Champs, N.O.R.E. claimed he'd shown the clip to Kanye, who said: "I don’t think Game should’ve said that.”

Fast forward a year, and The Game now seems to be trying to save face.

He seemed to address the remark in an appearance on Amazon's Bars and Nuggets podcast, in which he suggested the alcohol had played a part in his decision to criticise Dre.

"So basically I was hollering at N.O.R.E. and them a little inebriated," he said. "And I said some things that I meant.

"I'm not gon' take it back—I ain't no sucker. But having Dre do anything for your project, anything in your career, touch any part of anything you’re doing in life is such a blessing that I shall not ever s**t on that again."

The Game went on to say he hasn't 'talked to Dre since', adding: "It don’t really matter if we talk again in life. Like, I'm a standup Compton, L.A. n**** and it is what it is.

"I said what I said, I'm not going back on it. It's just that... I should have actually gave him more grace for what he did do and that was actually mentoring me and doing things that nobody else could have done for me in my career."

The Game said his work with Kanye was 'life-changing' for him in the moment, and concluded: "I based it on Dre's lack thereof because I took the business part personal and I should have left it business. But Dre is Dre, bro. We all know what Dr. Dre do."
