17-Year-Old Wins Google Science Fair With Incredible ‘Pregnancy Test’ For Ebola
It is often said that ‘knowing is half the battle’, and this teenager has revolutionised the war against Ebola with that motto in mind.
Olivia Hallisey’s has developed a simple test similar to a kit used to identify pregnancy, and the innovation has seen the 17-year-old conquer the 2015 Google Science Fair.
Hallisey appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Tuesday to discuss how her invention works, and show off her awesome Lego trophy.
Speaking to Colbert she said:
Current tests are expensive and complicated and, most importantly, require refrigeration.
This process uses a silk fibroin solution, which is just the proteins from silk cocoons.”
Check it out.
A silk fibroin solution. It all seems so simple now.
In all seriousness though, congratulations Olivia. Your Ebola test could mean the difference between life and death for countless people.
