According to reports in the Sydney Morning Herald, Browne was winning the fight before opponent Carlo Magali of the Philippines knocked him out to win the International Boxing Federation regional title.

Browne made a return to boxing in 2013 after marrying and becoming a father, and he was preparing for a potential world title bout next year.

Boxing promoter Brian Amatruda said:

Hopefully Davey can pull through. He’s a fighter and let’s hope he can get through the biggest fight of his life.

This is awful! We hope Browne can make a full and speedy recovery.
